Clint Thompson
Why is there an * after the title Xevious on the end of the cart?[/b]
Clint Thompson
Doh! Nevermind... haha, (see face label) that's stupid.. but ok. Maybe I'm just tired
Nukey Shay
The real question is why people make up names that use the letter X when it is to be pronounced "Z".
NovaXpress
Because the letter "X" gets a little extra attention. Why is the Q in NyQuil so big? Same reason.

Gregory DG
Why is there an * after the title Xevious on the end of the cart? Because it's on steroids.
rockman_x_2002
The real question is why people make up names that use the letter X when it is to be pronounced "Z". For that matter, what does "QIX" really sound like? And for the NES knowledgeable, why the name "Zezyx?"
+FujiSkunk
The real question is why people make up names that use the letter X when it is to be pronounced "Z". Probably for the same reason "xylophone" is spelled with an X.
gdement
I think the letter X was just invented to look cool. Other than that its useless.

NovaXpress
I think the letter X was just invented to look cool. Other than that its useless.More useful than the letter "C" which we could drop from our alphabet entirely. English is a weird language. We're used to it by now. StartTheBiddingLow
There were some arcade Qix posters/flyers printed with the explicit instruction to pronounce it as "kicks".
sukotsu9
I'd never thought about it much until now. I've always heard it "kwicks" but it makes sense that it should be "kicks". Incidentally, where did these spacy names come from? Xevious, Qix... Probably not as obvious as Yar's Revenge.

Probably not as obvious as Yar's Revenge. 963415[/snapback] You've got to admit, though, that these weird names have done their job; we all still remember them all these years later (and don't forget Q*Bert, which reportedly started life as Hubert, then Cubert, then Q-Bert, and finally Q*Bert). And yes, I've always pronounced it 'kicks' also. It would need a 'u' to be pronounced 'quicks.'

NovaXpress
I used to berate fellow arcaders for pronouncing Galaga with the second syllable accented (and said as a long A of all things).
Cousin Vinnie
I have been corrected on a pronounciation of a word lately. After watching the Chronicles of Narnia, I now see that British folk pronounce Aslan's name: Aus-lawn instead of what I thought it was: Azz-lan I think my way is better b/c I don't think a Christ figure should have somethig in his name that sounds so close to "ass".
