Atari anthology on PS2

I bought the new slim line PS2 the other day, and i bought the Atari anthology because it has the arcade version of asteroids. It also has Atari 2600 games on it too! So, my question is: when i play asteroids (or a 2600 game), what goes on inside the emotion engine and the graphics engine? These games aren't as complex as modern games on PS2 so i'm just being curious. Did the original asteroids arcade machine have the emotion engine? Thanks

Did the original asteroids arcade machine have the emotion engine?

I think it had an ATI cart, then they switched to nVidia with Battlezone! :D

Actually it's just emulation.. you really never heard of it?

Regards,

Rasty.-

I have heard of emulation, i was just curious of what goes on inside the PS2 when i play these games. I was reading the technical specs of the PS2 and the idea came to me to ask here. What does the emotion engine do? What controls the AI when i play asteroids delux?

Cool! That's all i wanted to know. It's fun to play the arcade version of asteroids! I love vector graphics and i think they did a good job re-creating the game. The last time i played arcade asteroids was in the 80's, but i never played asteroids delux it's very hard, especially when those diamond shaped aliens come after you. Is it true that people were just leaving one asteroid and hunting the UFO and thats why they made asteroids delux?
