Atari's famous large 'burials' and mass dumpings

I've recently been reading a couple of books on videogames, namely the second ed. of phoenix and also a blue hardback book called 'Zap' the fall and rise of Atari

They made mention of something that i'd often heard about, mostly regarding Atari's mass dumping and 'burials' of unsellable goods

The most famous mass burial was apparently the site in new mexico called 'Alamorgordo'

Has anyone ever managed to half inch (swipe or nick) any of the so called 'unsellable goods' that Atari were allegedly or supposedly mass dumping/burying

I'd even be interested what was available when they cleared out Atari corp's former head quarters in Borregas Ave. Sunnyvale CA

Hmm.... I don't think this has ever been discussed before.... :ponder:

:D

Maybe we should all head out Almorgordo with a bunch of shovels and beer and set the record straight. E.T. for everyone! Own a fragment of the TRUE mass burial site!

Of course, if we actually do ever find it, the universe will probably end. Personally, I think the carts are buried with Jimmy Hoffa :P

Happy reading. :P :D

BTW, don't feel silly that you brought it up. As you can see from the average length of each of the previous threads about this topic, it's a pretty hot topic to discuss. It's very cool that there's an urban legend surrounding our hobby. That's what makes it interesting and fun.

Yeah, it's kind of like the retro-gaming equivalent of the fountain of youth. Everyone wants it to be true, and nobody can find it. Ah well. And I was SO looking forward to playing E.T........ :)
