StanJr
Can I run DOS based Emulators like PC Atari while running Windows (I have Windows ME) or do I have to quit those applications first? I'm dying to play Pitfall II and as we all know Stella is ill-equipped to handle the task. Any help?
liquid_sky
I run windows ME and i have no problems running z26, or PC atari under windows. windows ME has no true dos support, so there is no real way to exit into a true DOS to run them.. just run them through windows. BTW there is a windows port of PC atari that runs nativily in windows
StanJr
Windows ME not having a true DOS support was my main concern. Thanks for the info. Does this site have that native PC Atari Emu for download? I don't remember seeing it on the emu page. Super thankful Stan.
liquid_sky
Here is a link to download. Make sure on your first run you go to File and Preferances and make sure you set the directory your ROMS are in. I didnt know about it the first time i ran it and it drove me crazy! http://www.geocities.com/dwarfaxe/pcae/pcaewin.zip
StanJr
So far so good. Its WAY different from Stella. It will take some playing around with it to fully figure it out, but as long as I can play Pitfall II, I'll be happy. Thanks.
StanJr
It works! I just beat Pitfall II, with a very low score mind you. But I finally got to play it! liquid_sky is king!
StanJr
Hey liquid_sky, this new emu kicks much butt, one problem. The top of my screen keeps getting cut off! Often its the score that is gone (ie Spider-man or Carnival) I've toyed around with my monitor, but that's not the problem. I've also toyed around in the program's menus, but nothing seems to fix the problem. I'm currently running it on Full Screen mode. Any tips? Don't know about the version you are running, but the minus "-" and plus "+" keys used to move the screen up and down when I used to run it in DOS, IIRC.
