Mindfield
Holy hell. That's freakin' awesome! I want one!! Oh, except for that keyboard. It looks like a rubber chicklet keyboard. I can well do without rubber chicklet keyboards. I can't wait to hear the story behind this one, it looks like quite an undertaking.

tjlazer
That is awesome! But would be cooler if it had a cartridge port on it. Also the wood grain and metallic is a little much. Maybe a XE/ST gray look would be better!
Almost Rice
WOW! I did not know you could cut the PCB like that. the 8" screen worked out great. I was planning the same using my Compaq laptop that had a dead keyboard. But I know now that it would been too hard since it has a unique video based on VGA. Still I was thinking about it using semi dead systems I had on hand. He really did a complete job. OMG!! he sell kits for his previous projects!!. I think I better get a XEGS before the few that are out there get all bought up. Edited November 16, 2005 by Almost Rice

+davidcalgary29
I'm always amazed to see the neat things that people are still coming up with, more than 26 years after the A8 line was introduced onto the market. That laptop looks wonderful, though I'd have preferred an all-gray (or black and chrome) case. And was an actual 800XE motherboard used for this project? Almost Rice
And was an actual 800XE motherboard used for this project? 966588[/snapback] He used an XEGS. He also remove the top right side of the PCB for batteries. It was originally taken out to put in a laptop HD, but he now uses a CF card for that purpose.
