birdie3
I have a 1050 hooked up to my 65XE. In the past I have owned 810's and XF551's but never a 1050 so I have no idea what to make of this. At the moment I have no disk to test in my drive. When I power it up with no disk in it - I get a repeating "boot error" message. What is happening here? Is my 1050 toast? Does anyone know if there is a diskless way to communicate with the drive to see if it send and receives with no problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! Bryan
If you power up the computer with drive 1 turned on but no disk inserted, the computer will keep trying to boot from the drive. You must turn the drive off or put a bootable disk in it. -Bry
birdie3
I need to get a disk(s). I assume that it is working. Hopefully it writes as well. Thanks Bryan.
Rybags
The fact that you get a boot error indicates that the drive is communicating with the computer. About the only thing you can do without a disk is write a short program to send a STATUS command to the drive. And all that will do is send back 4 bytes with bitflags telling you there's no disk in the drive.
