There appear to be alot of new prototypes up on atarimania. How come no one ever mentioned these? Looks like I've got alot of reviewing to do... :)

Tarzan is a brilliant game which i discovered long long years ago on some of my discs

Ahh the bootlegged disk. Inadvertent preserver of prototypes... ;)

BTW I have pictures (but no rom) of the Pink Panther prototype for the Atari 8-bit. It definetly exists.

Tarzan is indeed a great port. Played it for hours back in the 80s. Didn't know it was considered "lost" or anything like that.

So was it officially released? My guess is that it was a heavily pirated proto.

I believe the Frogger prototype was released by John Harris three or four years ago...

Tarzan seems to be a leaked proto. The game is 99% complete and winnable.

So was this version of Frogger supposed to be released in place of the Parker Brothers cart version? If so, why did they do another version? I assume this is different from the tape version.

Not exactly. Parker Brothers only had the rights to the cartridge version of the game, which is a slightly reworked release of John Harris' code (tape and disk by Sierra). It was favored over the prototype we're referring to (coded by Chuck Benton) which never made it. Too bad because it has a great simultaneous two-player option!
