crveatch
The Background: I know there's probably some more specific forums, but I thought I'd throw this out there real quick and see what I get. I have a Sony Vaio laptop that has a bad motherboard but a sweet 19" LCD monitor. I've always wanted to install a monitor and game system in my vehicle, but wanted to wait untill I got a new one since my old one has been trying to die for the past 5 years. Well the van has died so I'm getting a new one soon so the time has come. The Question: If I take apart my laptop will I be able to find a power and signal converters that will allow me to install the monitor and run it off the car's battery? If it was a PC Monitor no problem, but I have no idea what to expect once I finally pop this thing open. Thanks Edited January 13, 2006 by crveatch

Thanks 999490[/snapback] Most laptops use a proprietary(sp?) connection on their LCDs in their laptops, I've never been able to find pinouts or anything of the sort for any of these. So it would be quite the hassle if even possible to do so.
gdement
You should at least be able to figure out the power connections by putting a multimeter on the laptop side while it's turned on. But I don't know how you'd figure out the rest of the signalling.
