If you wanted it to last a really long time I'd get the gold buttons from Best Electronics. Allan

Paranoid
If the joystick (pots) are out, how do you determine if it is a bad cord or a bad pot? Can a stick with bad pots or a bad cord be repaired? It seems like most repairs focus on the button pads... I haven't seen replacement parts for the pots or cords at any of the online stores. Yeah, Atari, 15 wires, what a brilliant idea, that's three times as many to break!

It means an ever diminishing pool of decent OEM Atari 5200 analog sticks... doesn't it. I mean, you can get any number of replacement flex circuits... even in gold... but pots or cords, you're out of luck short of cannibalizing old sticks (or I assume, in the case of cords, wiring your own). darklord1977
i just got a new rebuilt controller for my 5200 and it works very well..but when you play with the controller be careful with it because they are very iffy at best...
