+karri
Hi guys, I thought of posting my Lynx findings while I am investigating a few broken Lynxes I got from Carl. The Lynx I has an 8 ohm loudspeaker and Lynx II has an 16 ohm loudspeaker. That is why the Lynx II is more silent. -- Karri
Isgoed
That's interesting. I always thought the mk1 sound was louder because of the BIGGER loudspeaker, so it's not.......

Therefore, it is more louder (thats what i heard, forgive me if i'm wrong!)
Harry_Dodgson
The Lynx I is louder due to more watts in the audio driver, not the speaker impedance. To help improve battery life (which all the whiners complain about), the Lynx II has lower power drivers. If the Lynx I had included earbuds, someone in CA would have sued them for POTENTIAL hearing loss (see recent news about iPods).
+karri
Hmm. The Lynx 1 has one LM386 amplifier and the Lynx 2 has 2 LM386 amplifiers. The components are identical in both units. But perhaps there is some artificial filter somewhere that reduces the volume. You know the history better than I. But the 0.2 Watt audio output has absolutely nothing to do with saving power compared to the backlight consumption around 3W. -- Karri
