yuppicide
After chatting on the another forum on AA about something I got the idea to design a new game proposal. I have a question before I draw up some mock screenshots and info on the game: Can the 2600 handle storing a bunch of numbers and then adding and subtracting?! Basically I'd want the game to be able to store/keep track of 20-30 sets of numbers and be able to add and subtract when needed?

A 2600 running a normal ROM cart has 128 bytes of RAM available. If the numbers are 4 digits each, that would be two bytes each to store, so 20-30 sets would be 40-60 bytes. But if the numbers are 12 digits each, that would be six bytes each to store, so 120-180 bytes. The former would be workable; the latter, not. yuppicide
Well, I could limit the maximum numbers to two digits.
yuppicide
Actually with graphics, I guess it could be better suited for the 5200. How would the 5200 be on storing numbers?! I re-looked over the plan and there's more numbers I'd need to store than I originally thought. Maybe 40-50.
djmips
Yours could be the first 2600 game to require the MemCard
supercat
Yours could be the first 2600 game to require the MemCard 1022974[/snapback] 50 two-digit numbers doesn't sound like MemCard territory. And the MemCard is used extensively in Strat-O-Gems; even though I allow the game to play without it, it's much cooler with.
