Are .atr, .xex files bootable from floppy?

ATR are disk images, and you can mount them in APE and just copy straight to normal floppy (provided the sector sizes are the same). If the ATR is huge or any other problems crop up, you can just copy files off it (assuming its a DOS compatible disk).

XEX are binary load files, so use the "PC Image Drive" option in APE then copy from the PC directory to a normal Atari disk.

Thanks for info. I guess I need to invest in APE and SIO2PC, right, if I want to transfer these files to floppies?

You need 2 pieces of software to convert atr images to atari disks.

First you need to convert atr to dcm, you can do this using imagic by Steve Tucker you can found it here.

Next you need to transfer the dcm image to an atari floppy and convert it to disk using diskcommunicator

by Bob Puff, you can find the software anywhere on the net.

Hope it helps.

Javier.

APE should be sufficient for your purposes. I transfer ATR images to physical disks all the time using APE: you would just configure your floppy drive as Drive 1, connect the APE cable, mount the disk image as Drive 2, and do a direct copy from Drive 2 to Drive 1 using your favorite DOS.
