How many 5200s were sold ?

I know how many consoles were being sold in US in December 1982....eight! You could buy a 2600, 5200, channel F, astrocade, colecovision, Intellivision, vectrex, and another I can't recall right now. Too many systems.

Yeah, it was the Arcadia. And I recall seeing all of those in major stores save for the Fairchild F into 1983.

I think the Channel F was mainly (exclusively?) mail-order by then. You might have occasionally seen random Fairchild product at a discount liquidator or shops that carried used systems and games, but that was probably about it as far as its retail availability went by 1983. I'm almost certain the last half-dozen new videocarts had to be ordered direct through Zircon.

 

But, even though the system went underground, so to speak, it was still out there.

Not sure how many sold on the 5200 but the serial number on one of mine is this.
