Cost of a Lynx?

Just testing the waters here...I'm not ready to buy quite yet.

Assume the Lynx is a Lynx 2, has no major scratches on the case, has a screen that can be refinished or has some minor scratching, everything works (i.e. backlight, all jacks and controls work), has no accessories or batteries, and no games. In short, a bare Lynx 2, used but in good condition.

How much should I expect to pay for that Lynx?

How much more would an AC power adapter cost?

i bought my Lynx II in said condition but missing a battery cover for $14 off ebay shipped. I bought the batter covery for $3 shipped and spent $8 at Radio shack for an Ac Adapter, so all in all, i paid about $25 for my Lynx two.

Also, it came with Steel Talons, new in box, so add subtract what you will.

So based on my experience, without a game, and no box, expect to pay somewhere in the lines of $10-$20.

Typically the long-time Atari retailers charge between $79.95 to $99.95 for a Lynx II core unit brand new in the box. Brand new AC Adapter tends to go for about $19.95.

...but that's brand new in the box, if you're lucky enough to secure one...

If you are looking to get the most for your money and dont mind purchasing pre-owned hardware, scouring ebay for a good "buy it now" deal is the best way to go. Chances are you can find a really decent bundle, including the Lynx II base unit, possibly a Comlynx Cable or Screen Visor, A/C Adapter, maybe a case, and a small handfull of games for around $30 - $50 depending on the condition and amount of games. If you can find the right deal and snag it on "buy it now" you'd be set to go.

Good luck!

Awesome. I was thinking BIN was the way to go, but I thought the base unit would be around $80 without the box. I'm glad I asked before I got taken.

I was planning on spending about $100 shipped, so that should get several games. Now to raise the $100...maybe I should hold a bake sale.

$10 to $20 seems much more reasonable--that's just a tick higher than the Game Gear sells for, and I think the Lynx is probably worth a bit more anyway.

Battery covers are an absolute must. It's going to get modded similar to my Gear, and I will want the NiMH cells to stay out of sight and out of mind.
