badbrad
Why is it that this cart doesn't work on the 2-port system?
SteveW
I believe it's the BIOS in the 2-port console being slightly incompatible. I just play the Atari 8-bit version. It's so much better with a digital joystick.
CPUWIZ
Why is it that this cart doesn't work on the 2-port system? It's the 2 port BIOS, if you swap it for a 4 port BIOS, it works fine.
badbrad
Is this just the matter of swapping a BIOS chip out? Is it worth the trouble for just this one game?
CPUWIZ
Yes, simple swap, and it's not the only game that has problems.
jetset
Is this just the matter of swapping a BIOS chip out? Is it worth the trouble for just this one game? I thought there were three games that didnt work on the 2-port? I seem to think one other was Mountain King and maybe Pitfall2 was the 3rd? Maybe I'm not remembering correctly. And I'm certainly too lazy to search.

badbrad
I'm not really lazy, I was disassembling. Is the BIOS chip at location U8?
CPUWIZ
I'm not really lazy, I was disassembling. Is the BIOS chip at location U8? Yes, you can also burn the 4 port BIOS onto a 2532 EPROM.
badbrad
Yes, you can also burn the 4 port BIOS onto a 2532 EPROM. Cool. Thanks, R. I happen to have a dead 5200. That's what I was taking apart earlier. Too bad this info isn't in the 5200 FAQ. Edited May 2, 2006 by badbrad
Big Player
So does Sean Kelly's 5200 Multi-Cart have hacked ROM's of Krazy Shoot Out? It appears to work on my 2-port but I only played it for a few minutes when I was going through all the games on the cart. What happens when you put the game in a 2-port? If I remember correctly, I had trouble leaving the room.

Zwackery
I have 2 two ports that apparently have the 4 port BIOS because I've never had a problem playing any of the 5200 titles on them.
sku_u
Some do. Look for a letter next to the serial number on the bottom.
