braincow
Hello all - I'm New here on the boards, but I've been a 5200 lover since the 80's. It was the first game system I had and I played the life out of many a joystick. Anyway here is my question: I've always loved the artwork gracing the boxes and cartridges - Does anyone know where the original artwork is? Do the originals even still exist? Are there early 'prototype' examples of them floating around? Might some collectors here have various pieces in their collections? Henry Lee
Hello Matt, You pick up my curiosity. I guess there should be a number of original artworks out there, as there was many artists. Probably freelance or they worked for Atari. My guess is, artworks were either owned by the artist, by the old Atari company or maybe sold or auctioned. For prototypes, I believe there is a prototype cart with an original label of Asteroids which was never released and Asteroids label art is one of my favorites, I can imagine on a silver aluminium box. Zonie
I would assume that Curt Vendel could answer that, and probably has some peices as well. I always liked the 2600 and 5200 artwork too.
