Noble Kale
well, I just dug out my st, and I figured out how to transfer programs from pc to it, so I'm just about to start leeching all the games/apps I can find... Anyone want to point out which games are good? (I actually managed to dig out a boxed munsters & a boxed breakout for my st too... musta found them with either the 1040 or the 520)
Albert
How did you end up connecting it to your PC? I'm tempted to dig out my Mega ST2 and Megafile 30 this weekend and set it up while I'm working on other stuff. There are some games and other things I'd love to run on a genuine ST, as opposed to emulation (even though emulation is quite good!) I'm also curious if the machine works, since I've, uhmm, never even booted it up (it's not one of my original machines). ..Al
Atari-Jess
Albert, a program called HDD_DMN will connect your ST and PC together and even get basic DOS emulation on the ST!! You need a DB25 male null modem on both sides providing that the DB25 port on your computer is bidirectional. If not, you have to BUILD your own cable ARGH!!! I cant use it cause I dont have the cable but I plan on using it soon... then again I am hopefully getting 2 Mega4s....
Atari-Jess
oh and albert? he never actually said he connected the two together. He may have just used a program like makedisk or something like that. ghost link will use serial connection BUT wont let you run programs from the PC on the ST. I have no clue why. It stinks. but then thats whats Harddiskdrive deamon is for!
Noble Kale
I dug out some old dd disks for my pc, then after consultation with some people (thanks mrmaddog) on #rgvc, I formated the disks to be 720kb (I had to look around on the net before I found a program called 'st2dos' that changed some bytes in the formatting to make them acceptable)... then it was a case of copying the files. At the moment, I'm writing up a program that formats disks and copies files for games (ie: select games wanted, then press 'Go', wait for format & copy, and voila!). It should be done soon enough...
