Lynx I or Lynx II - which design do you prefer?

Putting aside the additional features of the Lynx II, and the fact that the paint on the Lynx I rubs off, etc, which basic design do you prefer? I definitely prefer the Lynx II, I think it remains quite a stylish looking handheld.

I like Lynx I for better sound but Lynx II seems a lot easier to hold and play with.

Anyway, I think the Lynx II looks a little better but I like the way the Lynx I fits in my bigger mitts. My Lynx I seems to have tighter controls than the II for me also.

The Atari Lynx is one of the loves of my life, so I certainly hate to play favorites... however... I must admit that ever since I acquired my first Lynx II, it is the only model of the system that I ever choose to use.

 

The Lynx I is much much too large, has the annoying paint rubbing problem that you mentioned, and it has always seemed very odd to me that this unit must be opened on the SIDE (and then closed up) in order to insert / remove a game card; a very poor design.

 

The Lynx II, on the other hand, corrects these problems and then some. Like I said, I'll never use a Lynx I again, unless of course all of my Lynx II's decide to take a dive at the same time.

I did love my lynx I, I don't remember well but I think the cross was better than on my actual lynx II (short story : A friend burned my Lynx I, I bought a lynx II).

The lynx II looks better to me.

Lynx 2 for looks and ease of use ,but i think the Lynx 1 feels more solid and certainly has taken more of a beating than a mk2 can (frequently tested by throwing it across the room when i was younger)

 

the Lynx 2 also seems to suffer from the sticky direction pad syndrome whereas the mk1 doesnt.

 

shame they didnt combine the mk1s strength + reliabilty with the mk2s better design.

Lynx II for me, I find it sits better in my hands and I prefer it when playing Klax in vertical mode.

Still say Lynx I. Better battery life in my experience, and just tighter all around.

In my opinion, the strongest point of the Lynx I compared to the Lynx II, is the "easy to use" thumbpadcontroller.

It is easier to make a diagonal move, and "feels" more responsive.

 

Overall, despite the good/bad points of the units already mentioned in the earlier posts, I prefer the Lynx II.

I, Because it's easier to control and it's more comfortable to hold. On a related note, my LYNX I doesn't have any areas where paint has rubbed off aside from some uber-tiny dots on the cartridge cover. It's pretty much mint.

man, i love my lynx I, but I have to say, as soon as I played the II, the I never again came out of it's case. I think the screen on the II is a lot better, also.

Lynx I looks cooler sitting on a shelf with better sound, but Lynx II wins in every other area and is the only one I'll play today. Lynx I will always be sentimental to me though, because I remember how much it wowed me next to the Gameboy when it came out.

I would say LYNX 1 only since its the only one I have and I have big hands, mine was new looking and worked great until the battery leaked

I'm going with the Lynx II. The Lynx I I had (yes, I got rid of it, but I got a Lynx II to replace it) had all the paint rubbed off the sides and was pretty much trashed. That, and the Lynx I is a little too big for my tastes.

Well, I have a soft spot for the Lynx 1 (I had one when they originally came out), but the Mk 2 seems to have a better screen , and its the one I play now.
