tjlazer
I just ordered a few Pixels Past 32k cartridge boards. I decided to get the sockets, as it allows you to change ROM chips easily. But it seems once you add the ROM the board cannot be installed into a Atari 5200 cartridge case! Not a good idea to get the sockets, but with the Atari 800 boards, they installed fine in the Brown 800 cases so I thought this was the case here too. I guess not. Are these supposed to be used with another case? I cannot imagine why they added the full height socket. How hard would it be to unsolder the socket? Seems like a lot of work and hardly worth the effort?
CPUWIZ
I take it, you didn't really read the product description then? http://www.atariage.com/store/index.php?ma...products_id=219 None of the Atari 2600 or 5200 boards will fit into the case with sockets installed. Desoldering them is not a big deal, if you have the right tools.

Uzumaki
Depending on the socket, you could get away using a socketed board inside the cart case but you may need to trim the plastics inside and use newer style 2600 cart that doesn't have moving dust shield. Can't do much about the 5200 as they all used dust shield.
Shawn
Socketed 2600 boards from the AA store fit fine inside 7800 shells. But ya as far as the 5200 goes your SOL.

Zonie
Just cut a hole in the case and make a label that says "Place Eprom Here." I was thinking of installing a ZIF socket in one of those. Albert, any chance of getting one with a Zif socket already installed?
Uzumaki
ZIF socket is not cheap!!! They can cost around $10 by itself though you may find one for less on eBay. For 2600 2k/4k you need 24 pins ZIF. For larger 2600 games and all 5200 games (single game not multicart game) 28 pin ZIF should do. Use 32 pins if you are planning on a huge games over 64K (larger than 27512 EPROM) but you will have to manually wire up the extra pins.
