Paid $20 this month for content, King of the Nerds, so saved $126 over what I would have given DirecTV.
Cumulative savings are now at $800, balance remaining on the DVR setup is $1931.
I'd read about King of the Nerds at Penny Arcade back in January and thought it might be fun to watch (and it has been). Something reminded me about it in July so I bought the series to watch with a friend. I normally buy content from iTunes, but it wasn't available so I bought it from Amazon. Won't be doing that again.
I have Amazon Prime for the free shipping, so consider the streaming video a bonus and tolerate the drop in quality that regularly occurs due to network congestion. Purchased shows can be downloaded so you don't experience that problem, but only on Windows PCs and select portable devices (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Kindle Fire HD). I downloaded the video on my iPad to play it back on my TV via AirServer (as covered before in this blog entry) but Amazon's video app disables AirPlay.
To bad I didn't wait, it's now available in iTunes.
