Dreamcast VGA

Got the components today to add a VGA out socket with switchable scanlines, and an additional switch for line intensity - that's 3 switches and a VGA D type to find a suitable location for, here comes the Dremel ;) Whilst I am in there I will also fit the region mod chip to allow original Japanese and US games. Might video it and upload to youtube, not decided yet.

The VGA mod went well! I used an old IDE cable to route the 7 or so signals from the underneath of the video connector to a gap just next to where the power switch is - that way it's a nice straight flat cable with a couple folds - looks really tidy. Comes out next to the power switch and then I placed the stripboard inbetween the battery and GD-ROM. Another ribbon then goes down the right hand side of the GD-ROM, and sits under the two cable clips there in the moulding, before going to the VGA D socket which sits just behind the right corner of GD-ROM and the GD-ROM door switch. The 3.5mm stereo audio and toggle switch i've located next to the PSU, the toggle is actually above the PSU and the 3.5mm socket to the right of the PSU.

Initially I tried to build the scanline generator circuit into the same piece of stripboard but it wasn't working correctly so I seperated them. I've built a scanline generator as a seperate unit which is working great - I will mount it in a small box which i've ordered. Pics to follow.
