PCB orders

As of Monday the revision 10.0 board and the dongle board orders have been sent in. I don't know exactly how long it will take to get those boards back but I'm expecting a total turnaround time of about 3 weeks when you factor assembly and shipping into the mix. That means we have to try to make the most of things in the meantime. I have my repaired 9.2 board and the next step is to get the menu display up and running. I hope to report success on that front by Sunday evening.

I am really optimistic that the revision 10.0 board is going to be the last major revision. Delicon had a couple tweaks he was thinking of doing but unless there has been a major miscalculation, it shouldn't have to change much more. Then we can give much more attention on the firmware, the programming model, and the documentation.

You don't assemble the boards yourself ?

Delicon is assembling the boards himself. I'm going to have to learn to do this also. This is a necessary measure to control costs.

I've just started soldering fine pitch SMD with the 'solder flood then braid technique'. It works amazingly well on the 0.65mm pitch FT232R chips I've been using. I just line it up using magnification, then tack down a pin from each side to secure it before applying the flood. I spray the board with some flux remover afterwards and the finished result is 100% perfect.
