I like dimes
I really like dimes. Of course, quarters are better because they're worth more, but aesthetically I prefer dimes to quarters. Dimes are the lightest coins among American coinage and they are so petite. Not at all like the obese nickels or the gi-normous 50 cent piece. They're very easy to count too. 10...20...30...and on. Not like counting nickels, which can become tedious. Another good thing about dimes is that I sometimes find them on the sidewalk or street. Most people aren't going after a dime if they drop it although I think everyone will look for a quarter. Maybe they don't realize they've lost the dime because it's so small. For whatever reason, I find more dimes while walking my dog than quarters or nickels. Unfortunately, pennies turn up the most. I still pick those up but they don't give me the thrill finding an orphaned dime does. Even when rolling coins, it takes much less time to compile a roll of dimes than of quarters. When I try to save quarters, I always find myself using them for car washes and stuff and never saving many. But dimes are a coin that not many machines accept so there is no temptation to dip into your savings. I hope everyone in the world has a favorite coin. It makes the world a happier place.
