What bugging the manager can do at the mini-arcade

OK it's storytime from Fighter17!

Five minutes away from my house is the bowling alley (the only one in my city). In most bowling allies there's a mini-arcade with some pinball and arcade machines.

When I first walked in the arcade three months ago the selection was horrible. Bunch of redneck hunting games and this ultra lame bowling game from Incredible Technologies. The only OK one was this Ultracade machine which most of the emulation in the games were horrible (the arcade machine is just a MAME emulator with a bunch of games to choose from, all license).

Also at the time they were two pinball tables, and my god they were breaking down fast. It was two Stern Pinball machines (NASCAR and something else).

After seeing how bad were the selection of games, I went to the manager of the place and complain about it. Believe it or not, he agreed.

Manager: "The problem is I'm not into arcade gaming, and I don't know where to start."

Fighter17: "I can help."

Manager: "Which should I do?"

Fighter17: "For starters please remove those redneck hunting games, the lame bowling game, and those broken pinball tables."

The manager said later on that these machines weren't making any money at all, but because he was so clueless he didn't know what to do. So later that day I explain to him some games/machines that'll make a lot of money. The Neo-Geo MVS was one of the best choices around and I did give him a list of MVS games to buy. I also help him out with the new pinball choices (because the two pinball machines were broken).

After giving the manager the list of machines I left the bowling alley. For the next couple weeks I keep bugging the manager about it and he said "I don't have enough time at the moment."

Two weeks ago I went back to the bowling alley and I saw the manager and he was happy. He said he just ordered new machines and they are going to come in two weeks.

So today I went in the bowling alley. I was rushing to the mini-arcade section and my jaw just dropped.

Three months ago the selection was shit, now it was a total 180.

One redneck hunting game was replace by Area 51, the other one was replace by Raw Thrill’s Target: Terror Gold.

The two broken pinball tables were replace by Terminator 2 Judgment Day (good game BTW), and Apollo 13 (OK I guess).

Sadly the lame bowling game and the Ultracade machine were there, but next to them was a Neo-Geo one-slot with get this: Neo Drift-Out!

Next to the Neo-Geo machine was Ms. Pac-Man, nice. The last machine was Off-Road Intersected or something like that (it’s from Midway and it looked gay).

Most of the machines cost 25 cents for a credit. The light gun games, pinball machines, and that Off Road game cost 50 cents a credit.

After I saw the selection I talked to the manager and he said this:

”Few days after we got them in we had tons of people spending a lot of money on these machines. The best part is that I’m making TONS of money out of them. That Neo-Geo machine is making the most. I guess that Neo Drift-Out game is popular with the folks. Anyway, thank you so much for the help.”

I’m already bugging the manager for a MVS four-slot motherboard replacement with Metal Slug. ;)
