A.B Cop (Air Bike Cop)

Game: A.B. Cop (Air Bike Cop)

Developer/Publisher: Sega

Year: 1990

Hardware: X Board

Note: After Burner, Super Monaco GP and Thunder Blade arcade games also run on the X Board.

A.B. Cop is just Chase H.Q. (from Taito) but with some few twist. You control a very fast Air Bike (hence “A.B.” in the title) and your goal is to knock down enemy bikes. Part one of the stage is to knock down the regular bikes. They are usually six bikes in the stage and they take about one-three hits. You hit them by ramming into them. When all the regular bikes are gone is when you face the boss which is part two. They are usually easy to kill if you collect enough Jump icons. You bike can Jump in the game (usually to dodge or cause more damage to the boss), but you are limited to how many Jump icons you have. It’s recommended to use Jump when you’re fighting a boss (by ramming in air and hitting head-on cause more damage).

Great graphics for its time (scaling is great) and the music is good enough for the theme. If you want to play Sega’s take on Chase H.Q. then give A.B. Cop a shot.
