Hi there!
Move away Express Raider, here comes Mountie Mick!
Clearly inspired by an Arcade game, this is yet another sheriff on a train with baddies game. This one is executed pretty good, IMO better than say the C64 version of Express Raider for example. When it came out it had slightly above average graphics and slightly above average music and AFAIR it started as a mid-price title already, so it sure was a worthy purchase.
Its major flaw is something rather rare though. I've played a couple of versions before and they all had the very same showstopping level 7 dead end, just like the version I was playing today:
You see, at this point you can't go past the cars and there's no stairs to climb on top of the wagon either. No matter what, you'll die there, once the train scrolls you out of the screen
You're not missing too much though. I once used a trainer version with level skip, and IIRC did the game just loop the 8th level forever once you beat it.
Some future day the "Playing..." series may see the next horizontal scrolling shmup in the form of "Eagles", but first it'll continue with something more german.
Greetings,
Manuel
