Playing Army Moves (C64)

Hi there!

Not my favourite genre by definition, here we have a military themed shoot'em up:

This one was originally a Speccy/Amstrad game coming from Spain, created by a developer called Dinamic. It was published and ported to the C64 by Ocean/Imagine though.

It is a 7 "phase" shoot em up, that is split into two loads. The first part contains 4 phases. Three of them are basically the same shoot'em sequence where you're flying in a helicopter, shooting enemy planes and ground targets. In the first phase you're controlling a jumping jeep though, probably fighting your way through to the heliport.

The second load contains another 3 phases, which could be best described as a poorly executed Green Beret clone. You're shooting your way through a jungle and into a building where after a few more screens it ends pretty unspectacular:

The game is very hard, so I often used save states to complete it. Clearly a game time rightfully forgot ;)

Some future day the "Playing..." series may see its follow-up "Navy Moves", but first it'll continue with news from the colonies.

Greetings,

Manuel
