"Funny... He doesn't really look like me..." That one took me a moment.

Yeah, I was trying to figure out how to make that read, since the Coleco logo would have been too small. Then I decided to just put a close-up in the title panel. Having something like that (a "throwaway" panel) is pretty typical in comic strips, since the title panel is meant to be able to be discarded by newspapers to save space. So it solved my problem while helping to make it more in keeping with classic Sunday comic strips.

Incidentally, I own Sears' Electronic Touchdown, which is a rebranded Coleco Electronic Quarterback. It always makes it easier to draw a game/console if I have the original - the 5200 and Intellivision I had to do from photos (thanks to Albert for the 5200 pics).

Other things nobody asked about during "Sweeps week" ;):

  • Why the TV is named "Anna". (Last name: Log)
  • Why I highlighted the homebrews that I did. Ten daily strips - top ten games in the store.
  • What about the other games shown? Arthur (the 7800) has 2600 games that are known to be incompatible with some 7800s (Decathlon, Space Shuttle). Artie Jr. is meant to be an annoying little twerp with no taste, so he has games that are generally considered lame (E.T., E.T. Book Cart, N.E.R.D.S, Math Gran Prix). In the final episode (which reveals it's all been a nightmare) Artie has The Last Ninja while dreaming (which is certainly nightmarish), but wakes up with Squish 'Em, which alludes to the enormous 5200 about to give him a pounding. Darth, of course, has Jedi Arena, and Marty (the Intellivision) never has any game loaded, because nobody ever plays with him. (Obviously, he's not at Mezrabad's house.)
  • While most of the strips were written and the artwork was finished well in advance of being posted, I kept revising dialog on several of them right up until the last minute because I was never completely satisfied with how they were working. Basically, I stretched the concept out to fill up too many days - forcing ideas to happen rather than just posting only the stuff that I liked. Live and learn. ;)
