2600 + 5200 = 7800

I'm starting to doubt whether there's any way I can make a programming system that runs on an unexpanded 2600 any better than the already-existing BASIC Programming cart. I don't want to copy it, I wanted to do something better... and while the language I'm designing is certainly a little nicer than the one on the aforementioned cartridge, I don't think that the programs made with it can be any more substantial, or interesting.I may end up moving the whole thing to the 7800 platform... More RAM, a little easier in terms of a display kernel, and a lot more room to add nice features to the language. Not sure.

Hi there!

Major problem I have with this kind of software is that everything is gone once the power is off. Unless you find some good solution for permanent result storage (Atarivox?) it seems not very interesting to me.

Greetings,

Manuel

...this is the primary reason I am almost definitely going to support the AtariVox, for the sake of saving programs. But how well does the AtariVox work with the 7800? I haven't looked into it very in-depth yet.
