Hi there!
Uihjah, I remember watching The Three Stooges back when TVs were still b/w!
So this was Cinemawares one and only movie-like game that was based on a licensed property.
First thing I have to mention: The loading times on a real C64 must've been a killer - it still sucked even with sped-up emulation. The good graphics and music are mostly worth it though
The game steals the story from the Blues Brothers movie, only replacing the Blues Brothers with the Three Stooges. In order to collect enough money for the orphanage within 30 days, they basically play a minigame each day, which is picked in a little mini game sequence as well.
There's 4 different mini games in the game: An eating contest, a pie fight, a jump'n'run sequence and the wheelchair rally through a hospital pictured above. They're all pretty obscure and funny, capturing the spirit of a Three Stooges episode very well IMO.
There's also a trivia contest and a couple of rather random things happening in the game, but basically it's just as short as the other Cinemaware games before it:
Some future day the "Playing..." series may see another Cinemaware movie-style game in the form of "Rocket Ranger", but first it'll continue with something else.
Greetings,
Manuel
