I found this beauty at the local retro game store for ten dollars. Now I don't have to get it on Virtual Console!
Yeah, it was a great game, that's what I remember. Originally, I played Super Star Wars as a Windows 95 port, if such a thing ever existed. Maybe it was an unauthorized port, because I'm pretty sure this was before the heyday of ROMs and emulation.
But wait a mintute... I seem to recall something more sinister. Yes, I can't quite put my finger on it, but there was something malicious about this game. Even... evil. But what?

Holy CHRIST this game is hard!
I thought Contra was hard! But this, this game, I can't even get through the goddamn Sandcrawler! It's something like 3 minutes of timed moving jumps, and if you slip once, you get to start all over again. And there's no checkpoint till you get to the top! And if you die, you lose all your weapon upgrades! Are you kidding me? This game is nuts.
I don't ever remember Luke Skywalker having to put up with so much bullshit before he even got off Tatooine.

But it's such a fun game.
