The Last Airbender

Whoa!

I was only browsing for upcoming Wii games, when I saw a title "The Last Airbender" listed on play.com. Could this really mean...?!?

Some quick check vs. YouTube revealed the absolute sensation:

I'm hyped as hell now. Is it the beginning of a trilogy? Who'll play Toph?

They better not make her any less awesome than this:

Hehe

While I'm having your attention, did you see "How to Train your Dragon" already?

I really enjoyed it. I'd even go so far to think it's been the best Animation I've seen since The Incredibles :)

Beyond awesome! ;) ;)

So it's really going to be at least a trilogy I think, since all the footage in that trailer seem to be based on "water". (The bad news about that is that we won't get to see Toph this time :))

How to Train your Dragon is an exceptionally good movie IMHO. My wife saw it on the weekend and really enjoyed it. (She liked how the characters were realistic rather than being chisel-jawed.) My son was non-plussed with the 3D version, having seen it with me in 2D.

Oh, and for those that sit through the credits, there's no post credits bonus.

Funny HtTyD tidbit: I thought "Toothless kinda looks like a dragonized Stitch" during the whole movie, only to learn afterwards through my wife that the movie actually is from the directors of Lilo & Stitch

I agree that there's nothing particular 3Dish in the flic, I assume they just went with the hype and 3Dified it afterwards like Clash of the Titans.

IMO you can often see from the trailers when something was really created with 3D in mind. E.g. parts of the Alice in Wonderland or Resident Evil Trailers absolutely scream 3D, which is not the case for HtTyD or CotT.

Yup. Chris Sanders is an alumni of the college I work at (CalArts). Even in his student work, his style is immediately recognizable.

The author of this article couldn't even be bothered to research the very basic things regarding avatar, disqualifying himself completely with sentences like:

"Aang was born with the power to master all four, which is why he is the presumptive Avatar who is destined to keep the peace among the tribes, or some such."

"The creatures (a flying monkey and a flying giant something) have no personalities"

Not saying that the movie does not suck, but this review is just a first opinion of an incompetent idiot...
