The Mission / Live!

Hi there!Ouch, that hurt! Real tragedy :sad:This was easily one of the three worst live gigs I've ever seen. So bad I actually left the building after 8 songs. (Right now I can remember only one single other gig where I left during the regular set out of pure disappointment : The Wipers :x )To me, the Mission were always the 2nd best live gothic rock show on the planet. (2nd only to Fields of the Nephilim that is!)They lost songwriting sometime after 1994, I think. Masque was their best album IMO. The follow up Neverland was only so-so and their next album "Blue" was in fact so bad that I swore to never again buy another album from them.Still, they always had it live. I saw them over a dozen times during the past 15 years. Festivals, the farewell tour, the comeback tour, sevral album tours. Always a granted special time. But not last night! Wayne Hussey and the three random other guys put up some very brutal "wall of noise", that barely resembled any The Mission songs. There was no room for keyboards, harmonies, not even vocals. Believe it or not, you almost couldn't hear the singers voice! Just extreme loud guitar and drum noise... Only excuse they can possibly have is the mixing guy being totally deaf, or someting like that :xI want my money back!Greetings,Manuel

Although I'm not a regular concert go-er, I know what you mean. I want to slap the guy on the mixing boards, take down the main volume a couple of notches, then rebalance the sound so I can actually hear the lead singer.

But it sounds like in this case the guys on stage weren't helping their cause any either. I mean, I can understand a guitar feedback solo at the Sister's of Mercy concert I went to at University as a replacement for the orchestral chorus, but this sounds like the band was trying to make up for not knowing the songs.

Yup! A perfectionist like Andrew Eldritch would never let his audience down like that. Fields of the Nephilim neither (though I always suspect they're helping it with playback )

Greetings,

Manuel
