Probably Losing Internet for a Couple of Months (Time-Warner Won't Make a Deal)

Everything got behind because of the car needing to be fixed. Time-Warner wants $273 by the 26th of October and they won't take half now and half on November 1st. They say it's their 'policy' to turn everything off if they don't have what they're asking for by the 26th. Unless something magical happens, I probably won't have phone, TV, or Internet for a couple of months since it will cost too much to have it all turned back on. My family has been paying Time-Warner for 24 years, and they can't wait 5 days? If an affordable alternative existed where I live, we'd never go back.

If I don't answer your PMs or e-mails, it's not because I don't like you, it's just because you smell funny. Oops, I mean it's because I won't be online for a couple of months until enough money can be saved to get on the Internet again. I should be back online by January or February of 2011.

That really sucks. The board just won't be the same without you. :lust:

Yep, there will be less violence and nudity. October 26th will be a sad day for all AtariAge members. ;)

After my cable company yanked off a couple of my fav TV stations without warning I cut it to basic with Internet (somehow it was cheaper than *just* Internet!?!). To wean myself from TV I used the XBMC software for movies and TV episodes.

Damn, that sucks. Everyone, go to RT's website right now and click on every advertisement possible. He needs the money! :lust:

The giant cable companies really tick me off. I worked for one in a call center for three months as a temp job, one of the worst odd jobs I can recall. They weren't necessarily "evil" either, just... very, very complicated and disorganized.

That's what ticks me off more than anything though, they're among some of the most disorganized companies known to man, yet they get their pants in a bunch if you're a day late on a bill. Irritating...

Take this as an opportunity to explore other options. For TV you may be able to simply use an antenna to get your local broadcasters (see tvfool.com). Satellite (DirectTV/Dish) is also an option. Your "phone company" may have TV offerings. Same for internet. You might be even able to use basic dialup for email and web browsing. (Just disable or uninstall Flash.)
