Playing Fighting Soccer (C64)

Hi there!

Look mom, someone wrote a Spectrum emulator for the C64:

Oh. My. God. :o :o :o

I think this is definitely one of the worst C64 games ever. What did the guys at Activision only think when releasing such a trainwreck of an arcade conversion, demanding real cash for such a disaster?!? I guess if I had spent some real cash on this game I'd have joined the lynchmob and helped burning down their offices :lolblue:

And if you thought the "art direction" is the worst part of the game already, just wait until it moves. It seems the programmers didn't know that the C64 also had a graphics chip with hardware sprites, as it is my impression they're just *stamping* the players onto the screen with characters. Of course they players also move in character steps, one really has to see it in order to believe how bad this is.

At least the audio is slightly better. And believe it or not, but the game is even playable a bit. It has some very basic elimination tournament with 8 teams, which I actually managed to win, albeit then the game just reseted! Really, I'm not lying, it didn't even say "congratulations", or something. Nothing! It just reseted the C64! :o

Well, this is such an incredible pile of garbage, but I cannot deny it's actually kinda fun looking at such a game catastrophe nowadays, when I didn't have to pay for it ;)

Some future day the "Playing..." series may see another soccer game in the form of "World Championship Soccer", but first it'll continue with something else.

Greetings,

Manuel
