Mini beer tour
I was bored earlier this afternoon, so I decided to go check out a brewery in Waterbury, VT. It is called The Alchemist and is run by John Kimmich. It's a 7bbl brewery run out of their basement. There are some excellent beers on tap. I enjoyed their Heady Topper Double IPA (7.2%ABV). The atmosphere is excellent. However, they do not sell their beers in growlers. That was kind of a downside. After finishing up my pint of Heady Topper, I decided to drive 11 miles away to Stowe and The Shed Brewery on Route 100. Quite a worthy drive as The Shed is a very well known attraction on Rt.100. They have been brewing since 1965. Anyway, I sampled their Initiation Ale (8.0%ABV) and their IPA (6.0%ABV). I decided to go with a growler of the latter for like $8.00. Not a bad deal at all! What really gets me thinking is that next time, I could bring my camera and a notebook and have a "tour" of not only the two mentioned breweries, but also the Rock Art Brewery in Morrisville, which is right next to Stowe! Lots of fun. I wish I'd brought my digital camera though. Gotta do this again.
