When Flash moved to ActionScript 3 in 2007, it actually became reasonably nice language to program in. Good for small graphical apps without all of the bloat of Java applets. However, these days there is little point in using it - Javascript and HTML5 can now do everything in a cleaner and more portable way. The real annoyances with Flash are the constant security updates and the delayed bug-ridden releases on non-Windows platforms. It is definitely time for Flash to go the way of RealPlayer ...

Oh right. Forgot all about that. ;)

Wow... I can't even remember the last time I saw any RealPlayer media.

Someday, Flash... Someday.

Yup - before YouTube ... buffering ... came along in 2005, RealPlayer was ... buffering ... THE way to play movies on ... buffering ... the Web!

Flash has its issues, but I think I can say without shame, here on AtariAge, that HTML5/Javascript has a long way to go before online games are viable vs. Flash.
