  • both large asteroids graphics are in place. They're shiny.
  • Shield color cycling now matches the selected color theme.
  • 2 player fight mode finished. If a player dies they will always respawn, even if they have no ships left, provided the other player has any reserve lives. If the other player has 0 reserve lives, the player will come back if the other player earns a bonus life.

Note: if you trigger the easter egg, just hit SELECT or RESET to get out of it. While you can trigger it, there's not much to see.

Very nice - I haven't played this for a few weeks. The ship movement is much better now. I think the acceleration could be very slightly faster, but otherwise it feels spot on. Is there much left to do now?

I'll take a look at increasing acceleration for the next update. I'm also thinking about slightly speeding up the asteroids as I'm always playing on the hard level and still find it a tad easy.

 

I've got new medium and Saucer/UFO graphics in place, though I think Nathan's decided to redo the Saucer/UFO.

 

My to-do:

  • Rearrange ROM. Current division of banks is:
    • 0-4 = ARM and graphics = 128 bytes free
    • 5 = 6507 code = 1.5K free
    • Display Data bank = 1.5K free

    [*]sound effects, everything there now is just a placeholder - some may stay but I plan to review them all. The heartbeat sound is tentative. I've not decided if the saucer/ufo siren will be added due to the 2 concurrent sound limit. Their shots make noise, which may be enough warning.

    [*]credits easter egg (hence this side project)

    [*]enemy logic needs to be reworked (appearance timing, path - even though it's random, it seems to go offscreen alot)

    [*]thinking about decreasing the off-screen zone, though it'll complicate the sprite logic and ROM space for that may be an issue.

    [*]figure out if there will be space for tethered and/or Killer Satellites

    [*]demo mode (I'll remove the Last Scores from the main menu once this is in place)

    [*]delay after final death before returning to main menu

    [*]possibly add a bounce if you hit an asteroid while using the shields.

A little bit more acceleration on the ship. And about 25% more momentum. It comes to a stop too quickly.
