Ward Christensen, the inventor of the XMODEM file transfer protocol and the co-inventor of CBBS, the first dial-up computer Bulletin Board System, passes away on this day in 2024. He was just 12 days shy of his 79th Birthday when he died. A NY Times Obituary was written on 10/21/24 and is available here (unfortunately, it's behind a paywall). Ward created the BBS with his friend, Randy Suess, in January 1978 during a blizard in Chicago, Illinois. Suess passed away on December 10, 2019.
