Here the spare dev board has replaced the retail board in the case and it is ready for all the components to be put back in.

 

You can see that there are no empty pads on this board. It has 128MB already on it. A few other differences from a retail system:

The TSOP contains a debug BIOS that provides all the fantastic features that you get with a debug unit.

The loaded debug BIOS does NOT boot retail software. If you insert a retail game disc it will be read as a DVD.

The HDD is not locked against the systems EEPROM. You can insert any hdd without locking it and configure it for the system using the recovery disc.
