Would doing this just once not affect anything, or did I just zap years off of the life of the console, cartridge, or both? (The unit in question is a four-switch CX-2600A.) The day I brought it home from the thrift, I popped it open and found some weirdass gunk in there (freaking purple in colour ), and a few weirdass bug things. Well, I left it outside to air for a week, cleaned it off (with some pretty damn harsh cleaners), threw a combat cart in and it worked Mind you, I handballed that particular vcs off as soon as possible (though I did throw an air freshner thing into the vcs before I closed it).
