The mouse will not move and none of the keys are working! If I unplug the keyboard and plug it back in the monitor speaker makes ALOT of beeps! If I do this during a boot-up tons of letters fly across the screen! How do I fix this? Help please! -Rick

Curt Vendel
Has this keyboard worked properly in the past and just started showing these symptoms? Also - do you have an Atari 7800 proline joystick and joypad plugged into the keyboard? If so, unplug it, the ST's intelligent keyboard protocol goes batty when you have one of those controllers plugged into the keyboard. Been working fine since September of last year. 2. I found that out when I tried to use a Genesis controller on the MegaSTE's keyboard. It just didn't like it. But the genny controller worked fine on my 1040. I think I'm gonna take a rest from this problem for a few days... and try again fresh! I was really pissed when it didn't work! megaste keyboards are soooo expensive! -rick
+Zeptari
Take it apart and clean it. It's apart...... Just gotta figure out a safe way to clean it. Should I take all the keys off? I have access to a high power air hose at work... would that do the trick? Yet again... I'm gonna step back from this for a few days.... relax a little..... Maybe read or watch a star wars flick.... Thanks for all your help... I'll post back with my results in a few days... -Rick
tjlazer
Just wipe down the membrane with damp cloth. Did you take the inner keyboard apart?
+Zeptari
Just wipe down the membrane with damp cloth. Did you take the inner keyboard apart? Yup! I ripped the whole thing apart.. took it to work and blew all the dust out. Looks like the ground wire was not connected! Would that cause a problem? Anyways...I'm gonna take the opened keyboard back to work and try to solder it back together.. if that doesn't work... well.. i give up! -Rick ohh what part of the keyboard is the membrane? under the keys themself? sniperstorm
Be carefull with the membrane, they are very weak and break easy , where the ribbons curve down into the plugin connectors they are weak and crack. I just ordered a new membrane for mine.

I just ordered a new membrane for mine. Is the membrane the two super thin flat (wires) that plug into the white rectingle plugs? or is the membrane the board that the keyboard plugs into? Sorry...I'm a little confused... -rick
tjlazer
The membrane should be a thin plastic sheet with the connectors and traces on it. Maybe the Mega STE/TT030 keyboards do not use a membrane?

I pulled the membrane out....What can I use to clean it that's safe? Should I even bother? Where did you order the new membrane from? How much was it? Thanks again all! -Rick
