BigO
I'm not sure how a software solution would work. The game is Ram+ so a hack does no good if you want to put it on a cart. Depends on the cartridge. Would you mind elaborating on that a bit?

Rob Mitchell
Unless I'm missing something it should run on both Cuttle Carts for example. And it and the hack do work on the cuttles.. Rob Mitchell
BigO
Oh, I see now. "Depends on the cartridge" didn't translate for me as "it will run on an aftermarket multi-game cartridge". Caveat: the adaper I built will not work on a heavy sixer due to the extra molding around the controller port. One would need to use a 9-pin connector that doesn't have the tabs other extraneous stuff surrounding the connector. Uhm... it actually didn't seem to be such an obscure thought to me, as I'm doing that nearly everyday. And of course anything you do today is aftermarket. BigO
Just wasn't the way I read Lord Helmet's wants. Probably because I don't have a multi-cart. Well...I guess you might sorta kinda loosely be able to count the Supercharger.
BigO
This schematic was nothing but errors. Please see corrected version below. Edited July 5, 2007 by BigO
jsoper
it ain't pretty, but it's there I think it's pretty, well except for that emitter arrow pointing the wrong way. NPN = Not Pointing iN
BigO
Thanks A.J. and jsoper. (I had the NPN right until the freebie tool corrupted the drawing and forced me to start over.) As A.J. pointed out to me offline, I only included the wiring that was rerouted and left out the wiring that passed through unmodified. (For myself, I had a separate wiring diagram that contained all connections.) Here's the updated schematic: If someone better than me wants to do it, we could post a schematic for the IC inverter version here for completeness. Unless I'm missing something it should run on both Cuttle Carts for example. I could see this running as a "2600 on a 7800" cart, like Save Mary. The ram is free, and you can then use the 7800-buttons. This sounds relatively easy, and saleable if anyone cared. So, does anyone care? -John
+Propane13
Wait a sec, am I on drugs, or did someone already hack this? There's 4 directions on the controller, and I don't think Omega Race uses them. Someone had to have made a hack. -John

Other than the epoxy, I didn't have to spend any money, so I built the adapter. I suspect if you could sell them for about $5.00, you could unload a few. Therefore, the adapter remains a DIY project. I'm in the midst of working up a less DIY friendly but similarly valued adapter for a different game. If I'm not dumber than I think I am , I might have a first cut working this weekend.
