_Fandal_
Hi all! Our Czech fellow Michael Kalous released today his first A8 game called "Caverns of the Lost Miner". It's written in C and though it isn't any extra stuff I guess everybody has to start somewhere... It can be downloaded here. F.

miker
Funny game! Reminds me of Candy Factory. I'll play it more if the time allows... Edited February 5, 2007 by miker

emkay
Not knocking it, but it's the same type of games, everyone wrote in the 80's in ATARI Basic. "Gr.1" Games give nearly the most cpu speed. Seriously, back in time, I wrote such games faster, right out of the head, in basic than they were loaded from Tape... Well... how about some real sid sounds here (sidplay really has enough time when using this type of game).
danwinslow
Yes, he shouldn't even have bothered, since we all could do so much better... Nice job, I like it, and I especially like the source code. It's well done.
Wrathchild
Well... how about some real sid sounds here (sidplay really has enough time when using this type of game). Have the sources been released by Swiety yet for including in our A8 projects?

+hunmanik
Has anyone gotten Caverns of the Lost Miner running on real Atari hardware? Or more specifically, real NTSC Atari hardware? We wanted to feature this game on a SPACE club DOM, but a couple of us can't get it to run. The machine freezes very early in the process of loading the game. I've tried SDX, MYDOS, and DOS 2.5, with or without BASIC loaded. Works for me fine in Atari800WinPLus 4.0 emulating NTSC hardware. Thanks. I've tried SDX, MYDOS, and DOS 2.5, with or without BASIC loaded. I can't get it to work, either.. I've got a 32-in-1 OS upgrade, so I tried it with 800 rev A and B OS and all 4 revisions of the XL/XE OS, using DOS 2.0S. I even tried the PAL XL/XE OS (on my NTSC machine), no joy. In all cases, it loads 2 sectors, then freezes...
baktra
There is new version "C" available at http://www.baktra.wz.cz/software/calomin.html. This version was tested with DOS 2.5 and DOS XE. Previous versions did not work probably with any DOS, only with tape recorders. I've rearranged memory layout. Enjoy the source code Edited April 3, 2007 by baktra
+CharlieChaplin
Well, if you like "Caverns of the lost Miner", then take a look at the Kemal Ezcan games (available as type-in listings in the mid 80s) "Super Miner" and "Super Miner 2". They are the same kinda stuff... greetings, Andreas.
Urchlay
Version C also works with MyPicoDOS...
