NE146
Excuse me if this has been talked about in the past. But is the Double Dragon ROM here at Atariage the PAL version? http://www.atariage.com/software_page.html...wareLabelID=152 The reason is I can't seem to play it on the Cuttlecart. It loads but the picture rolls just like it was PAL. Am I just loading it wrong? Anyone know?
King Atari
The ROM available here is indeed PAL. You can tell by the colors, such as the weird purple skin. The NTSC version has natural colored skin, and Billy and Jimmy Lee's suits are blue and red, like the arcade.
NE146
hmmm... If that's the case then I've got like 3 or 4 Double Dragon roms from various sources and they're all PAL! So does anyone know where the NTSC version is?
ubersaurus
to my knowledge it ain't dumped.
King Atari
Just get PCAE, push F3, and it will be in NTSC colors.
NE146
Just get PCAE, push F3, and it will be in NTSC colors. Where's F3 on a Cuttle Cart? And how do you get PCAE on it?
King Atari
I don't have a Cuttle Cart, so I can't help you at all there. I don't know why the NTSC version hasn't been dumped yet, most likely because the PAL release is much more common.
smf_4ever
As A cuttle cart user (i hate playing on the puter) I really hope some one eaither dumps.. or converts Double Dragon...
NE146
Albert said in another thread (http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10365) that he didn't know the Double Dragon dump they had was PAL. He is going to get the NTSC version out as soon as possible... right AL?
Thomas Jentzsch
Don't expect me to convert this from PAL to NTSC, only because everybody is just to lazy to dump it.
King Atari
Just wondering, but for a game everyone (but me) hates, why so much interest ?
krisjohn
Just wondering, but for a game everyone (but me) hates, why so much interest? I don't know about everyone else, but I bought my original Atari 2600 (jnr) because it offered a Double Dragon conversion. Finding out that it was total crap sort of stayed with me. There's so much stuff I had as a kid that I wish I'd kept, but selling my old toys funded new ones (and quite frankly it's taken 15 years for the prices to climb back up to what I would have sold them for all those years ago). If anyone wants a boxed HES (PAL) Double Dragon, I've got one to sell. How much are they worth anyway? Picked up the box first, then found a cart. Can't remember if I've got the manual or not. King Atari
Maybe that was the wrong way of putting it. I should have stated that they hated the controls & enemy difficulty. Have you gotten the hang of the controls, NE146? (And not to be sick or anything, but what happened to your animated avatar? You get razzed for it ?) It's broken out every Friday as an end of the week "celebration" ...or of course when I feel like it. Yeah it got razzed but come on, when has that mattered? King Atari
Ah, I thought you had been playing it on an emulator or something and wanted it for the Cuttle Cart. End of the week celebration? Quite a way to start the weekend !
smf_4ever
I have played the Emu.. but I hate emulators.. I want to play it on the CC.. So I am just replying again so it goes back to the top. lol... maybe someone will take pity on the poor atariage.com for not haveing an ntsc .bin... and dump it for them.. ya know?.. just to give back to the community is all... that is my concern.... Albert
Okay, I have dumped the NTSC version of Double Dragon. You can grab it here. I didn't play it very long, but it seems to work correctly. And the colors are definitely different from the PAL version. Enjoy! ..Al

King Atari
That be it! Notice how the music runs much slower in the NTSC dump, while it plays faster in the PAL version. Okay, I think everyone owes King Atari a big "Thank You". What? I didn't actually do anything? Well son of a (censored)!
