mimo
Hi, my 1200 XL arrived this morning. Powers up, but to video output (tried RF, composite and s-video) opend up to have a look, all chips in place, apart from the 256k atarimax upgrade. not sure if this should be in the empty socket or not, any ideas, if it should be in the socket, which way round? Rybags
I'd say definately it has to go into a socket somewhere - it won't work with only 6 lines connected. In that configuration, the system is probably not finding any RAM, or is otherwise screwed up somehow. Funny that you'd get no video - I would have thought a black screen at least. Chips and sockets will usually have a round notch in one end which indicates orientation.
classics
It goes in the empty U10 socket with the word 'ATARIMAX' facing the front of the computer. Look underneath the PCB as you put it in the socket to make sure all the pins are going in, it is very easy to insert it incorrectly. Be sure to press down firmly so that is seated completely in the socket. Youre not getting any video because without the memory upgrade pcb plugged in, you have no RAM.
