CPUWIZ
If the dustcover is missing, it's a proto/preview copy.
strattsp
The dust cover is missing. I haven't had a chance to play it yet.
Shawn
The dust cover is missing. I haven't had a chance to play it yet. Nice score you lucky SOB!! EDIT: You still gotta take the screw out of the back of the cart and flex that little slut open so we can see the chip (pretty please). EricDeLee
I'm not an expert... but should he cover the windows on that badboy?
+-^CrossBow^-
Yes...he should cover the windows on that board. Since the PCB lived in the case most of the time, it was usually out of any direct light. But to be on the safe side, I would get something to stick on those chips and cover them.
classics
Congrats, looks like a real prototype to me. Steve
strattsp
The board is safely back in its case, and it will be kept in a drawer anyway, do I really need to cover the windows? And if so, what should I use? I don't want to use any kind of tape that will leave gunk on the chips.
else
I hope you didn't use a flash when you took that picture. That would sure stink if you erased it!!!!
strattsp
I'm certainly not an expert, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but it is my understanding that you need UV light to erase an eprom, and then it can take from 15 minutes to an hour to do so. I used a flash for this picture, but it really shouldn't even be possible to erase it with a camera flash.
else
Sure that's true for new/fresh EEPROMS. But considering this thing is 25 years old, I know I wouldn't be taking any chances. I'm sure it's probably okay though....
Tempest
Only two EPROMs? I could have sworn mine had 3 or 4. Tempest
CPUWIZ
Only two EPROMs? I could have sworn mine had 3 or 4. Tempest Millipede is 16K, his has two 8K EPROM's. You may have a board with 4 x 4K EPROM's on it.

You can thank me in another 20 years when it still works.

Shawn
If I can just get an Atari 2600 Kiosk..... Well there seems to be peices of them all over ebay as of late. The control pannel, the bezel, the motherboard, ect. I wonder how many of these things are getting trashed by scalpers that don't know how\don't care to restore them and just rape them for parts to sell in individual auctions? ianoid
Is it normal for Pole Position to say "Malibu Grand Prix" on the title screen? I'd check if it was convenient.
