CARTRIDGE STEALER
I have MAME 0.111. I downloaded METAL SLUG 1, 2, 3, 4 AND 5. Only MS5 appears in my mame (but all of them appear in my ROM folder) can someone tell me why 1-4 dont appear on my mame? do i need to update it? carmel_andrews
make sure that mame knows where your rom folder is (might solve the prob.) does that version of mame actually support early versions of metal slug, if it doesn't then go back to a version of mame that supports the early versions of metal slug (probably will solve the prob.) Nukey Shay
Romsets change occasionally as new sets are added, more complete versions are dumped, etc. So it's possible that whatever set you downloaded was compatable with an earlier version of Mame, but not the current one. There have been some redumps in the case of Neogeo roms from Mame version .80 on up. The reason was that the originals were not known to have been bad dumps. Rybags
Best bet is to download an older version. MAME is a complete pain in the arse to keep maintained. I scored a ROMset 2 years ago and just leave it at that. The philosophy of their developers is complete emulation of particlar games which means that new ROM segments can appear which then means that compatibility breaks all the time, and forces users to go hunting for missing bits to add to their Zip files. CARTRIDGE STEALER
thanks, everyone. to be honest, I dont know what NEOGEO is. I saw it in the arcade and I assumed it was an arcade game with assorted games in it. all my games are in the mame "rom" folder. I see 1 through 5, but when it comes to opening mame to play them, only #5 comes up. I dumped files in the past but I forgot how to do it again, after I do an audit. how do I do it again? Tom_Explodes
Look for Winkawaks. It's a neogeo emulator and will run the supposed "mame" Metal Slug roms. Edited August 24, 2007 by Tom_Explodes
Rybags
And be sure to grab Nebulus as well. It supports the Sega Model 2 games, including Daytona USA ! Surprisingly, MAME support for that game is still near non-existant. It starts but is buggy as hell and completely unplayable.
Ze_ro
Do you have the NeoGeo BIOS as well? Because you'll definitely need that too. --Zero
XCALBR8
I haven't had any experience with that version. I have mame32 .9 and it runs all the new games.
Avid Fan
I recommend just not using MAME for NEO-GEO games, or CPS1-2 either. Use Final Burn for those. The difference is great
nora
I recommend just not using MAME for NEO-GEO games, or CPS1-2 either. Use Final Burn for those. The difference is great I'm curious about the above statement, I have been running said games in MAME for ages and have no complaints, could you be more specific on the differences? Thanks Nora
