Shawn
tinfoil and super glue is a cheap way for a quick fix.
Lord Helmet
I used glue and powdered graphite. Works like a charm
atariksi
I want to refurbish my controller buttons ("Start" and fire buttons). What would I need to do this? I tried scratching my controller contacts with flat blade screw driver which seemed to fix some of the buttons for some time but not recommeded in the long run. I would recommend the following two cables for a permanent fix: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=320102924004 I'm sorry the link is bad; it's actually-- http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=320104919302 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=320104489758 at least the latter one if you want to fix the keypad and use atari paddles and their fire button. If you have a Y-adapter for the Atari 5200 jack, you can use the digital joystick adapter along with your current controller and just turn the paddles to zero resistance and use it's fire buttons and use the Atari 5200 controller pots for the X/Y motion. Cobra Kai
If you want to do it right and do it only one time you need to purchase a rebuild kit: http://cgi.ebay.com/Atari-5200-Joystick-RE...9QQcmdZViewItem I've tried everything throughout the years, and until I just broke down and bought the rebuild kits, each 'cleaning' was only temporary. I put the new circuits and buttons in two of my controllers many years ago and never had another problem.
