7800 joysticks on other systems

I have two of those Proline joysticks, although they came with my 2600 consoles. They work fine there and they also work to some extend on my Atari Falcon. There the keyboard gets problems. Are there known incompatibilities of these joysticks when connected to other systems?

AFAIK, the extra fire button should perform the same function as the right mouse button on the ST.

 

On the other 8-bit machines, it should read on one of the Paddle inputs.

I've used procontrollers on my STE many times, it works fine in the player 1 controller plug but using one on the other (mouse port) there is usually a conflict causing erratic control so no 2-player games

I did plug the joystick into Port 1 and I had irratic behaviour of the keyboard afterwards. Not even dared to try to mouse port.

All in all one has to conclude: those joysticks are not fully compatible.

 

No big loss for me, they feel awkward and my hands do bleed after 10mins of use

I'll stick to my Competition Pro.
